Looking for a kids science experiment? This Colored Water Science Experiment is perfect!
This kids science experiment is great for the little ones! When Hunter was 3 years old we did this science experiment together and he was in awe! He’s 7 years old now and I’m sure he’d be equally in awe!
What you’ll need:
- Clear Cups
- Water
- Food Coloring
- Toilet Paper
- First we used clear cups so we could see exactly how much water was in each cup.
- You can then fill up ¾’s of the cups up with water.
- You can use food coloring in the color of your choice so you can better see where the water is moving.
- Next step is the placement of the cups. You’ll want one cup higher than the other to help the flow of water. If you have steps in your house they’re great for placement of the cups! I placed the top cup on a cake container (haha) because I was worried about my son knocking over the cup and food coloring stain the floor! Really, anything to offset the cups would work just fine.
- Once I had the cups in place, I added a small strip of toilet paper starting in the higher cup with the end of the toilet paper piece in the bottom cup.
I love this easy science experiment and so did my 3 year old! He was in awe watching the water travel from the top cup down to the bottom cup.
So if you’re looking for a neat kids science experiment to keep the kids entertained, this is a must try!
Assum project. Colored Water. Just loved it.
