Ladybug Handpainted Rock

Want a cute garden embellishment to make your gardenias or roses pop?! Make a handpainted rock! Go to a local river and select a round, smooth rock. I picked this one out from Cherokee, North Carolina. I also picked up small tiny rocks to look like the ladybugs “legs”. I used regular craft paint and painted a ladybug.

I started with red craft paint. I used outlines to make the head so I didn’t use up too much paint. After the red dried I used black. I colored in the head, between the wings, and spots. Once that layer dried I used white. You want to make sure each layer dries completely before moving on to the next. I used blue for the eyes and touched them up with the black and white. When the rock was finished and completely dried I used clear coat spray paint and “sealed” the colors on. I’ve had this rock for about 3 years now and it’s just as pretty as when I first painted it 🙂

DIY Handpainted Rock, Garden Embellishement Lady Bug

This is a easy and crafty way to spruce up your garden & flowers. If it fades, just touch up with some more paint.

If you wanted to add the legs, you can easily glue on the rocks to the bottom of the rock. Use E6000 super glue. Works like a charm!
