There’s No Laundry In Heaven!
Today’s post comes from Hannah McEntire with Hannah McEntire Art & Photography and boy is it a good one. It blessed me to my soul and I hope it does the same for you It’s titled – No Laundry In Heaven.
After folding and putting away what felt like the fifteen thousandth load of laundry for the week; i was thinking, like everyone else, that laundry is never ending, and something came to mind.. There will be no laundry in heaven. Just out of the blue, it popped in my mind. Well friends, sometimes it gets kind of crazy inside my head so I proceeded to start singing the old gospel song, “What A Day That Will Be” replacing lines such as “There’ll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear,” with my own version of “There’ll be no laundry there, no more clothes to fold again.” (If you know the song, I bet you just started singing it like that… You’re welcome.)
It was that moment when I realized I was walking through the house doing this.
Then came another thought. One that stopped me in my tracks. There will be no laundry in heaven.
No song this time. Just the Holy Spirit.
Then another thought. This time a verse in Ecclesiastes came to mind.
“Whatever your hands find to do, do it will all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge or wisdom.”
-Ecclesiastes 9:10
WHATEVER your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.
Does “whatever” include laundry?
Unless the Lord returns to call all His children home first, we are all going to die. Our earthly, physical body will end in the grave. At this point we will never fold another shirt, clean another kitchen, or make another bed. We will never do laundry again. There will be no need for it.
You see friends, when we have those fifteen thousand loads of laundry, it means we are blessed. It means we are blessed with running water and electricity to run the washing machine and dryer. It means we are blessed with hands that can fold the towels and clothes. And if you have that many loads, it probably also means you are blessed with people in your home that you care deeply for. A spouse, children, siblings, parents. The Holy Spirit spoke into my life at that moment and reminded me that laundry is a blessing, not a curse.
He reminded me at that moment that I am blessed beyond measure. You see, for me, the ability to do laundry in my home means I am blessed with a roof over my head, running water, electricity, a washer and a dryer. But more importantly, I am blessed with a wonderful, loving husband and the cutest little boy running around. And how can I show my thanks to the Lord for these blessings? By loving my husband with all my might. By raising and caring for the little one with all my might. By cleaning the house He has blessed me with, with all my might. By doing the laundry with all my might.
Life here on earth is short, friends. James 4:14 says, ” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
Maybe the Lord is speaking to you today about something. Maybe it’s not necessarily laundry. I think you can take that literally or figuratively. Laundry is really not the point here. It could be work, it could be a relationship. WHATEVER it is, whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might. At the end of the day, when our life on earth ends, there will be no time for regret.
So today friend, whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might. Don’t look at it as a chore, instead, look for the blessing in it. And remember, there will be NO laundry in heaven!
This post blessed me… It spoke deep to my soul & I wanted to share it with you. Last week my bible study was on Ecclesiastes 9:10, My notes on this verse was: “everything you do, do wholeheartedly. You can take nothing to the grave. Labour and rest, enjoy life, whatever you do, do your best at it.” My prayer for this study was “Dear Lord – I am blessed & thankful for this life, but I am even more thankful my eternal resting home is in Heaven!! Lord, I pray everything I do, I do to YOUR satisfactory & YOUR approval. I honor your HOLY NAME, – Amen”
The best feeling on Earth is to know your name is written in the lambs book of life. It truly is. If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. it is my wholehearted prayer that you get to know Him. Because one day they’ll be no laundry in Heaven. They’ll be no tears to cry or burdens to bear. They’ll be no more sorrow and no more pain if you’re a child of The King! And that, my friends, is music deep to my soul.
Love the reminder!
Me too Kuhiwa! I could use this reminder daily!
