What does Easter mean to you?
Easter is a lovely time. We get to celebrate our King & his triumph over death & the grave!
I love Easter as much as I do Christmas! It’s a time that family can gather together in the name of Christ and celebrate his sacrifice for us.
Are you familiar with the Easter story? If not, I encourage you to go to this website Matthew 26, Matthew 27, Matthew 28 & read the scripture in depth.
Jesus was betrayed by one of his disciples, Judas, for thirty pieces of silver. When Jesus was before the governor standing trial – they could not find ONE fault in him. The Bible says that Pilate asked the governor who he wanted to choose, Barabbas – a notable prisoner, or Jesus. The chief priests and elders persuaded the crowd to chose to crucify Jesus – the one without fault, instead of Barabbas – a notable prisoner. They stripped Jesus of his clothing & gave him a scarlet robe. They put a crown of thorns upon his precious head. They began to mock him and kneel saying “Hail, King of the Jews!”. They spit on him. They tortured him. Jesus was crucified along beside 2 thieves. One on his right, one on his left. At the ninth hour of the crucifixion Jesus said “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani” translating to “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” the beginning of Psalm 22:1. Jesus said this to draw attention to the verse which foretold the crucifixion (see specifically verses 11-18)… A miserable death for a mighty king.
He did this for me. He did this for you. He bore that cross along with our sins. Every one of them. That is love my friend. If you don’t know Jesus, and you’re not saved by HIS marvelous grace – ask Jesus to come into your heart & save you.
I can tell you from my testimony. I had longed to be saved when I was a little girl. I pushed it when it wasn’t my time. I thought I was saved and I was baptized twice. I didn’t know what being saved meant until March 22nd 2009, at 18 years old, when a young lady at church gave her testimony. She said all you have to do is ask Jesus to enter your heart. That was my time. I didn’t know what being saved meant – but I finally did that day. I went to the alter and I asked Jesus Christ to enter upon my heart and to save my lost soul. HE DID! I stood up and told the church what Jesus had done for me. The weight of my sins were lifted on my shoulders. I could literally feel the weight of them lifted. It was an indescribable feeling! Many tears and prayers my grandmother had shed for my salvation was finally here. I was then baptized shortly thereafter.
It doesn’t matter if you’re in a church, you can get saved ANYWHERE – I heard of an old time preacher being saved on a tractor, plowing his fields. You can be saved kneeling at your bed. There is nowhere Jesus can’t save your soul. Just ask of him. He died on that cross 2000 years ago bearing our sins so that we can live eternally. That, my friends, is the ultimate love.
To me Easter means Jesus. The love and sacrifice my Jesus made for you and I to live eternally in Heaven with our Father.
I would love to hear your testimony! Leave me comments below 🙂
