Easy Peasy Sunflower Easter Cake for Easter or Spring!
Do you like EASY, simple, & cheap DIY recipes/ideas that look like a professional made it? If your answer was yes then this Sunflower Easter Cake is right up your alley!
With a pre-made cake, this only takes about 15 minutes! YES, FIFTEEN MINUTES!
Gather your ingredients.
- Cake Mix & Ingredients for cake (eggs)
- Icing
- Peeps
- Chocolate morsels
Bake the cake per instructions. I used two 8″ round cake pans to bake mine – but you can use one if you’d like.
If you choose to use two 8″ or 9″ cakes, you’ll want to cut the top off the second one. I used a butter knife and turned the pan while I held the knife in the same position. This gives a uniform, even cut.
To help the top layer stay on the bottom layer I heated up about 2 tbsp.’s of icing for 5 seconds. This way I could just pour the icing over the exposed cake instead of trying to spread it on.
Place the top layer cake over the bottom layer.
Ice your cake like normal. Again – I moved the plate and kept my butter knife in the same place to give a uniform, smooth look.
Next you can place your yellow peeps as the sunflowers pedals. I used about 1-1/2 packs of peeps for my 8″ two tiered cake. I found the easiest way is to break apart the peeps and place them in a circle individually. I first placed them on the cake in a row of 6 without separating them. I ended up separating them in the end anyways.
The final step is to put the chocolate morsels on the cake as the sunflower “anther”. Start on the outsides and place your morsels in a circle. Repeat the circles until the entire middle is full of chocolate morsels.
This was such an easy recipe! It took around 15 minutes after the cake cooled. The kids at our get-together LOVED it too!
So if you like EASY, simple, & cheap DIY recipes/ideas that look like a pro made it, this recipe is for you!
