How to Make the Best Teacher Appreciation Gifts!
Teacher Appreciation Week is a pretty big thing here in the south.
To crafty mamas anyways.
We are showing these brave beings how much we appreciate them for watching our little bundles of joy, sometimes terrors, for an entire year.
We’re thankful for the hard work and determination they’ve shown to teach our children.
The countless nights they stay up grading papers, or the late evenings they stay at school to do parent-teacher conferences.
We know there is a lot of effort put into teaching.
And we do appreciate it.
Not many people can do this job. Think about it. Some teachers have nearly 20 students in one room! Try to teach twenty young children something that they haven’t comprehended just yet is difficult!
So when Teacher Appreciation Week rolls around, we try to give just a portion back of what our sweet teachers has given to us.
I have painted many, many custom door hangers. It’s something I thoroughly enjoy!
I bought the pencil cutouts for $12 each. When I paint wooden cutouts, to get a good layer of paint I don’t use tempera or craft paint. It doesn’t give good coverage. I use house paint. The real deal.
Tip: You want to outline in pencil before you start. This helps me SO much!! I cannot stress it enough!
You can get samples at Lowes or Home Depot for $4 and it’s perfect! I used stencils to make the chevron and a round sponge brush to make the polka dots.
I filled fruit in the baskets to give to the teachers at their breakfast appreciation, with a sweet card from my son to go along with it.
I didn’t have the grey for the metal part of the eraser so I mixed black and white. I did use craft paint here, because I painted a layer of white house paint underneath to get a good coverage.
For the bows I used brown and turquoise burlap I had I cut two rectangular pieces of each color and scrunched them in the middle. Remember, it’s not supposed to look perfect.
I used red deco mesh and burlap deco mesh to make this bow.
I then cut the letters out in vinyl and voila! I had my very own teacher appreciation gifts that looked fantastic, but didn’t cost a fortune!
Teachers need to be shown they’re appreciated. They spend a lot of time teaching our children and equipping them with the knowledge they need to get to the next level in their education. This is not an easy task.
